“…They are proving its usefulness in assessing malignant potential of the tumour mass and exploration for distant metastases in primary diagnosis together with metabolic response to and detection of local recurrence after applied therapy [5][6][7][8]. In the presented case PET-CT with 18FDG depicted persisted high metabolic activity in the tumour mass despite three courses of adjuvant chemotherapy and metabolically active metastases in the skeleton, not visible on previously scheduled imaging studies.…”

“…In a literature review through PUBMED from 1980 to 2008, more than 250 cases of cardiac angiosarcoma were found; the tumors mostly arose from the right atrium with different extensions and clinical presentations. In the last two decades, only eight cases of this malignant tumor originating from LA were reported in the English literature 1‐8 . This present report describes the ninth case of primary cardiac angiosarcoma arising from an extremely unusual location.…”

“…The metastasis was not detected by PET and MRI pre-operatively; however, the tumor might metastasize at that time, which was not enough for the detection, or the tumor metastasized after the operation rapidly. Another report showed the usefulness of PET and MRI for the detection of local recurrence and metastasis of this tumor [11]; however, the recurrence was 2 years later. To think of the rapid and aggressive behavior of this tumor, it is suggested that more frequent follow-up studies of PET be needed to detect the early distant metastasis.…”
