“…87 Improvement of visual acuity was reported in 10 of 12 patients treated with IV recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rTPA), but all had residual field defects. 88 A systematic protocol that included multiple modalities with observations of retinal arterial flow following each step was shown to result in remarkable visual improvement compared with arbitrary treatment choices. 89 Beneficial effects on vision have been reported following selective ophthalmic artery catheterization infusion of tPA 90,91 or urokinase.…”

“…1,2 Such complications have been treated by various methods, including laser photocoagulation, systemic corticosteroids and recently, intravitreal injections of triamcinolone acetonide. 3 HBOT has been suggested in the treatment of various retinal pathological conditions, 4 and optic neuropathies, including radiation-induced optic neuropathy. 5 In our present case, we report the response of irradiation retinopathy and optic neuropathy to HBOT with marked improvement in the clinical appearance of the fundus and the visual field.…”

“…1 Several studies have isolated bacteria inside the operating room on everything from the ventilation systems to surgical drapes, most commonly isolating coagulase-negative Staphylococcus. [2][3][4][5] Case report In order to investigate the potential of ophthalmic operating microscopes to contaminate the surgical field, we cultured four ophthalmic operating microscopes, two at a university hospital and two at a Veteran's Administration hospital. All four operating rooms were frequently used by multiple resident and faculty physicians for ophthalmic surgery.…”

“…In ophthalmology, HBO was reported to be beneficial in the treatment of patients with arterial retinal occlusions and anterior ischemic optic neuropathy [43][44][45][46][47][48] . Beiran et al reported significant improvement in visual outcome in 83% of the patients treated with HBO as compared with only 30% improvement in the control group 47 .…”
