These often use computer-controlled machines like 3D printers and CNC machines. The accessibility of these technologies is increasing, even for non-experts. This leads to widespread use and democratisation of manufacturing technologies, which can support distributed urban production. We present recent developments of an AI-supported laser cutter based on Open Source Hardware (OSH). Our approach integrates machine learning methods, including diffusion-based image generation and Large Language Models. This enables seamless integration of CAD-CAM systems. By combining hands-on learning with OSH machines and digital tools, we ensure a better understanding of the manufacturing workflow. We demonstrate the capability, accessibility, and potential of our approach using OSH machines. This can significantly influence future developments in digital fabrication.
