Ecofriendly Synthesis and Photocatalytic Activity of Uniform Cubic Ag@AgCl Plasmonic Photocatalyst

Abstract: Uniform cubic Ag@AgCl plasmonic photocatalyst was synthesized by a facile green route in the absence of organic solvent, in which a controllable double-jet precipitation technique was employed to fabricate homogeneous cubic AgCl grains and a photoreduction process was used to produce Ag nanoparticles (NPs) on the surface of AgCl. During the double-jet precipitation process, the presence of gelatin and Cl– ions at low concentration was necessary for the formation of cubic AgCl grains. Atomic force microscopy (A… Show more

“…It is worth mentioning that through directly oxidizing the dye molecules, X atoms can be again reduced back to X − ions, which ensures the stability of AgX [369]. On the other hand, narrow bandgap AgBr also can excite electrons under visible light irradiation (Fig.…”

“…In recent years, as a kind of highly visible-light response photocatalyst, Ag-based photocatalysts have been proved to be promisingly efficient photocatalysts and well-known photosensitive materials, such as Ag 2 O [1], Ag 3 PO 4 [2,3], AgX (X = Cl, Br, I) [4][5][6][7][8][9], and Ag 3 VO 4 [10]. Among the Ag-based photocatalysts, Ag 2 CO 3 was reported to possess high-efficient photodegradation ability for Rhodamine B (RhB), Methyl Orange (MO), and Methylene Blue (MB) dyes [11,12].…”
