“…One obituary by Helmut Scharfetter (1893-1979) published in the Archiv für Psychiatrie und Nervenkrankheiten [23] mentioned that there was "a second Gamper", with cloudy, self-tormenting hours, when he appeared to doubt in himself, with no hope for future, tormented by presentiments of death. After an enthusiastic endorsement of Austria now being part of a larger Reich, another obituary by Georg Stiefler (1876Stiefler ( -1939 from the Deutsche Zeitschrift für Nervenheilkunde [29] describes Gamper as a safe driver probably overwhelmed by particularly challenging snowfall. It also mentions a detail which helps to understand initial confusion regarding the Gampers' destination: their car had hit a big log and made a 180 degree turn before it went over the cliff.…”
