Effect of Agroecological Conditions on Biologically Active Compounds and Metabolome in Carrot

Abstract: Carrot serves as a source of health-beneficial phytochemicals for human diet whose content is affected by agroecological conditions. The effect of conventional, integrated and organic farming on ascorbic acid (AA) and α,β-carotene levels of new carrot cultivars Cortina F1 and Afalon F1 was investigated and their metabolomic profiles were measured by direct analysis in real time ion source coupled with a high-resolution mass spectrometer (DART-HRMS). Cortina and Afalon exhibited high levels of AA and total caro… Show more

“…Recently, higher levels of 1 were correlated with a higher level of spontaneous infection of carrot leaves ( Alternaria dauci , Cercospora carotae, and the bacterium Xanthomonas campestris pv. carotae but were not distinguished between the effects of the individual pathogens) that were not treated with fungicide, but our data showed that 1 was down-regulated under waterlogging in all genotypes [ 29 ]. Waterlogging could be expected with a higher infection, but further influences may have stronger impact, e.g., the FC during drought vs. non-stressed for 1 indicated three times up- and down-regulation, respectively.…”

“…Lo fascinante de las bebidas de origen vegetal es su diversidad y la forma en que son producidas. Muchas de estas bebidas son elaboradas tanto por productores agrícolas como por individuos que las preparan de forma casera (Koudela et al, 2021). Este enfoque artesanal agrega un valor especial a estas bebidas, ya que muchas de ellas se basan en recetas tradicionales transmitidas oralmente y de manera personal a lo largo de generaciones (Waehrens et al, 2018).…”
