Background Youth suicide prevention in high-schools and universities is a public health priority. Our aim was to propose a research agenda to advance evidence-based suicide prevention in high-schools and universities by synthesizing and critically reviewing the research focus and methodologies used in existing intervention studies. Methods Fourteen databases were systematically searched to identify studies which evaluate suicide prevention interventions delivered on high-school or university campuses, with before and after measures. Data from included studies (n = 43) were extracted to identify what, where, how and for whom interventions have been tested. Narrative synthesis was used to critically evaluate research focus and methodology. Study quality was assessed. Results Research has focused primarily on selective interventions, with less attention on indicated and universal interventions. Most evidence comes from North America and high-income countries. The target of interventions has been: non-fatal suicidal behaviour; confidence and ability of staff/students to intervene in a suicidal crisis; suicide-related knowledge and attitudes; and suicide-related stigma. No studies included suicide deaths as an outcome, evaluated eco-systemic interventions, explored how context influences implementation, used multisite study designs, or focused explicitly on LGBTQ+ youth. Two studies evaluated digital interventions. Quality of the majority of studies was compromised by lack of methodological rigour, small samples, and moderate/high risk of bias. Interventions often assume the existence of an external well-functioning referral pathway, which may not be true in low-resource settings. Conclusion To advance evidence-based suicide prevention in educational settings we need to: conduct more high-quality clinical and pragmatic trials; promote research in low- and middle-income countries; test targeted interventions for vulnerable populations (like LGBTQ+ youth), evaluate interventions where death by suicide is the primary outcome; include translational studies and use implementation science to promote intervention uptake; evaluate the potential use of digital and eco-systemic interventions; and conduct multisite studies in diverse cultural settings.

Background: The Worldwide resistance prevalence of the first-line TB drug, rifampicin (RR-TB), in 2017 was 7.4 per 100,000 population, and 82% of them experienced multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). Indonesia is the top 20 country with an MDR-TB burden, and its prevalence is 8.8 per 100,000 population. MDR-TB requires a long-time treatment and has accompanying side effects: biological and psychosocial effects. However, efforts to overcome the psychosocial impacts have not been conducted. This study aims to determine the effect of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) on anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and treatment adherence in MDR-TB patients.Design and methods: This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test three post-tests using total sampling. The pre-test was conducted before the standard nursing intervention, post-test 1 was after the standard nursing intervention, post-test 2 was after ACT session 1, and post-test 3 was after ACT session 2. Data were collected by the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HAM-A), Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS), a Scale for Suicide Ideation (SSI), and Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS).Results: The standard nursing action and ACT reduce anxiety (p = 0.002), reduced depression (p = 0.0001), reduced suicidal ideation (p = 0.008), and increased treatment adherence (p = 0.0001).Conclusions: The standard nursing action and ACT reduce anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. They increase treatment adherence recommended for use in MDR-TB patients.

Os comportamentos suicidas e de autolesão são um desafio para a Saúde Pública, especificamente para a saúde do adolescente, necessitando de intervenções intersetoriais. Neste sentido, os ambientes escolares mostram-se como espaços potenciais para o desenvolvimento de estratégias de prevenção dos citados comportamentos. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar na literatura estratégias eficazes de prevenção do suicídio e da autolesão voltadas para adolescentes em ambientes escolares. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, realizada no período de setembro a outubro de 2021, com a utilização das seguintes bases de dados online: Medical Literature Analysis and Retrievel System Online (MEDLINE), Literatura Latino-americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), Índice Bibliográfico Español en Ciências de La Salud (IBECS), Base de Dados em Enfermagem (BDENF), Coleciona SUS e Index Psicologia- Periódicos pesquisadas via portal da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) e na base Education Resources Information Center (ERIC). Ao realizar as etapas previstas na revisão resultaram um total de 11 artigos que atenderam aos critérios de elegibilidade do estudo. As intervenções de prevenção ao suicídio e da autolesão encontradas nesta revisão de literatura abordaram questões de saúde mental através do fortalecimento das habilidades socioemocionais e os programas apontaram predominância de treinamento para reconhecimento dos sinais do comportamento suicida e encaminhamento aos profissionais da saúde mental, principalmente o Gatekeeper (guardiões da vida). Quanto à eficácia dos estudos incluídos, foi verificado que existiram resultados promissores na maioria deles, entretanto alguns destes apresentaram lacunas.
