Effect of fabrication technique on microstructure and electrical conductivity of polyaniline-TiO 2 -PVA composite material

Abstract: The aim of this workis to study the microstructure and D.C electrical conductivity of polyaniline-TiO 2 -poly-vinyl alcohol polymeric composite material synthesized by two methods. The first method of synthesis involved mixing of 40 wt% blendedpowders of polyaniline and TiO 2 micro particles in aqueous solution of PVA and the second method used 'in situ' deposition technique in which nano particle sized fine grade anatase TiO 2 powder (approximately 50 nm average particle size) was placed in the polymerization… Show more

“…However, studies on the preparation of composites containing PAni showed the presence of two phases, with the insertion of the polymer in the system. 36,37 According to the literature, PAni presents a densely compacted morphology, 33,38 which could be observed by the micrographs, and which corroborates the results obtained by SEM. It is possible to observe in Fig.…”

“…The value of hv extrapolated to α = 0 gives an absorption energy, which Fig.3). Graph yields an Eg value of 3.2 eV for TiO 2 and 2.98 for TiO 2 /PAni [41]. The slight decrease in band gap energy in case of TiO 2 /PAni is due to the formation of sub-band level between the valence band and the conduction band.…”

“…Accordingly, organic-inorganic nanocomposite sensors have been developed by several research groups (Pawar et al, 2011), fabricated PANI/TiO 2 nanocomposite ammonia vapor sensor (Deshpande et al, 2009), discovered good sensitivity, reproducibility and faster response to NH 3 at room temperature achieved by using SnO 2 /PANI nanocomposites film. Arora et al (2014), studied the effect of fabrication technique on microstructure and electrical conductivity of polyaniline-TiO 2 -PVA composite material. Srivastava et al (2011), fabricated TiO 2 doped polyaniline composites for hydrogen gas sensing.…”
