“…2c). Sheikhi Shahrivar and Khademi (2018) suggested that the addition of gypsum increases Ca concentration and changes the equilibrium of K in the root zone and plant tissues. Similarly, the increased availability of K and its importance in N metabolism could be the reason for high K concentration in plants treated with (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 and K 2 SO 4 (Barłóg et al 2019).…”

“…Among the individual and combined treatments, VC and GP + VC were the most effective in improving the sodicity indicators. This effect is likely related to (1) the release of Ca 2+ from gypsum and vermicompost which are calcium-rich sources 40 and (2) the mobilization of insoluble carbonates (as supported by a significant drop in CCE) by organic acids and carbonic acid released by the decomposition of VC and subsequent increase in the concentration of Ca 2+ and Mg 2+ . These processes likely promoted the reactivity of Ca 2+ and Mg 2+ and replacement by the excess Na + in the cation exchange sites.…”

“…Consequently, potassium concentration increased in plant tissues. Also, using moderate levels of phosphogypsum led to increase the potassium concentration in plant tissues [34].In other words, the phosphogypsum levels in the T8 and T9 were with acceptable rage to relase the potassium from phosphogypsum based on Sheikhi Shahrivarand Khademi, 2018 study. In general, the treatments T1 to T6 show a decrease in potassium 1222 (2023) 012024 IOP Publishing doi:10.1088/1755-1315/1222/1/012024 9 concentration compare to treatments T6 to T9, probably due to the concentration of applied humic acids.…”
