“…e effect was in line with the verdict of Mekonnen et al [23] who identified that, at 55 days after emergence, weeds accumulated appreciably the lowest dry weight in plots treated with 1 kg ha −1 of metolachlor and pendimethalin with one hand weeding supplementation which may possibly be due to the integrated effect of herbicides and hand weeding practices in cowpea.…”

“…ha -1 ) was effective in controlling Amaranthus spinosus, Commelina benghalensis, Digitaria bicornis and Trianthema portulacastrum portulacastrum up to 28 days after sowing, and that productivity was not significantly different from that on fully weeded sites. Mekonnen et al (2015) reported high levels of weed control with S-metolachlor spraying (1000 g of i.a. ha -1 ), where a regime of weeding at 35 days after emergence with the Asrat variety resulted in increased productivity.…”

“…The nature of weed interference strongly determines the choice of weed management practices (Adigun, 2002). Different methods of weed control in cowpea have shown to minimize weed competition in cowpea (Osipitan et al, 2013;Getachew et al, 2015;Prabhu et al, 2015;Singh et al, 2016).…”
