Effect of Long-Term of He-Ne Laser Light Irradiation on Selected Physiological Processes of Triticale

Abstract: In agriculture, the bio-stimulating properties of laser light increase the yielding capacity of crop species. The experiment aimed to determine the pre-sowing effect of irradiation time with laser He-Ne red light of triticale grains (×Triticosecale Wittm. ex A.Camus) on germination and selected morphological and physiological parameters of seedlings and plants grown from them. The highest values of germination indexes were found for grains irradiated with laser for 3 h. In relation to the control, the elongati… Show more

“…In a previous study in triticale, the chlorophyll a level was almost identical in untreated and irradiated (He-Ne) plants. Możdżeń et al (2020) justified this outcome with the immediate transfer of excitation energy from antennae to the reaction center. In the current work, the elevated chlorophyll a in treated plants showed a different pattern of energy transfer in sunflower compared with triticale.…”

“…It was the highest in the SII (14%) and SIII (4%) phases. In other studies on long-term laser beam irradiation (wavelength 632.8 nm), it was noticed that the photosynthetic activity did not differ significantly between the research objects [79]. According to research study by Li et al [80] regarding the effect of red (R), white (B) and mixed light (RB) on the photosynthesis efficiency in red pepper leaves, it was noticed that the leaves were thicker and the ability to transpose electrons in the process of photosynthesis and its speed increased by lights B and RB.…”

“…Further laser irradiation is also involved in increasing nitrogen level which leads to higher protein content to increase plant organs such as number of leaves and leaf area, number of branches, and umbels 47 , 48 . The increased leaf area, which is the reflection of laser rays enhanced cell division and elevated level of GA and subsequent growth during vegetative stage 49 – 51 and improved morphological as well as physiological features 52 . The laser-mediated elevation of GA3 associated with several physiological functions such as cell elongation, auxin, and sugar content and subsequently increased the plant height, number of branches, and flowers 53 , 54 .…”
