Batch sorption experiments were conducted to evaluate the sorption behavior of tetracycline (TC, H 3 L) on sediments and soils in the presence and absence of cadmium (Cd), as affected by pH and properties of sediments and soils. The results indicated stronger nonlinearity and higher capacity of TC sorption on sediments than on soils. Sorption of TC also strongly depended on environmental factors and sediment/soil properties. Lower pH facilitated TC sorption through a cation exchange mechanism, which also took place at pH values above 5.5, where TC existed as a zwitterion (H 2 L 0 ) or anions (HL -and L 2-). When pH was above 7, however, ligand-promoted dissolution of TC might occur due to TC weakening the Al-O bond of aluminum oxide and the Fe-O bond of iron oxide. Natural organic matter (NOM) plays a more important role in TC sorption than cation exchange capacity (CEC) and clay contents. The presence of Cd (II) increased TC sorption on both sediments and soils, which resulted from the decrease of equilibrium solution pH caused by Cd 2+ exchange with H + ions of sediment/soil surfaces. The increase of TC sorption was also related to the formation of TC-Cd complexes, where Cd 2+ acted as a bridge between the sediment/soil and TC.

RESUMEUne étude descriptive et analytique sur l'alimentation en eau de boisson a été réalisée sur une population de 110 puits dans la commune d'Abomey-Calavi au Bénin qui sont respectivement sélectionnés par tirage aléatoire simple dans l'ensemble des 55898 ménages de la commune. L'objectif de ce travail est d'évaluer le niveau de pollution des eaux de puits consommées par la population de la Commune et son lien avec la santé. La pollution physico-chimique et microbiologique des puits dans cette commune, ville semiurbaine de 307.745 habitants, a été étudiée. Les puits présentent une forte pollution en nitrites, en nitrates, en aluminium, en fer total, en cadmium et en mercure qui sont respectivement de 32,73%, 11,82%,10%, 43,64%, 6,36% et14,55% d'une part et d'autre part, une pollution microbiologique (bactéries, parasites et champignons) qui rendent l'eau impropre à la consommation. L'origine des pollutions peut être attribuée à diverses causes: défaut d'assainissement et de collecte des ordures ménagères, transfert de polluants à partir des couches superficielles, conditions de puisage et structure des installations. À terme, l'utilisation des puits pourrait constituer un risque sanitaire important pour la majorité des habitants de la zone d'étude.

Water, source of life, is also a source of disease when it is polluted. The aim of this study is to analyze the physicochemical quality and the bacteriological quality of the wells, boreholes and tank for drinking water in the Commune of Allada. The methodology is based on the collection of data, data processing and analysis carried out at the Laboratory for Quality Control of Water and Food (LCQEA) of the Ministry of Health. From the water sampling carried out at three (03) traditional wells, two (02) boreholes, two (02) tanks and water of river (02), bacteriological and physicochemical analysis were performed. The results showed that pH is higher at the tank than other water sources. Well 3 (P3) has a very high electrical conductivity (EC) which was 384.95 μS / cm and 192.47 mg / L for total dissolved solids (TDS). The tank 2 exhibited high value in pH 9.14; 71.72 (μS / cm) for the electrical conductivity (CE) and 35.86 mg / L, in total dissolved solids (TDS). Well 2 (P2) has a high turbidity of 4.53 (NTU) at all analyzed water points. The concentration of iron, copper nickel and cobalt remains low(less than 0.4 mg / L).Wells 2 and tank 1 are concentrated in lead, respectively 20.75mg / L and 13.71mg / L. Tank 1 and 2 have a high concentration of cadmium compared to other water points. The presence of Escherichia coli with a high concentration at home SONEB (39 CFU) and at well 2 (7.10 2 ) was found. In view of these results some recommendations were made.
