“…Vegetable oil-based polymers are increasingly used to develop greener organic coatings for corrosion protection. Protective coatings from bio-based polyurethanes [1][2][3][4][5], polybenzoxazines [fH3], alkyd resins [9,10), epoxidized oils [11][12][13][14] or cardanol [15), and even chi tosan [16) have been recently reported in the literature. Epoxidized oils are of particular interest.…”

“…The stretching vibration of the carbonyl group, C = O, appears at 1718 cm − 1. Peaks at 1599 cm − 1 and 1574 cm − 1 correspond to C − C stretching vibration of aliphatic and aromatic C = C bands, respectively, while peaks around 1256 − 1062 cm − 1 are related to stretching C − O−C vibrations [30,33]. The peak at 971 cm − 1 is due to C − C stretching vibration, whereas out of plane aromatic C − H bending vibration is observed at 742.6-710 cm-1 [30,34].…”

“…The characteristic bands of the spectra are presented in Fig. 12a-b and are described as follows: The broad singlet peaks at 3410 and 3448 cm − 1 con rm the presence of the OH group [30,31], and the peak at 3073 cm − 1 in Fig. 12-b corresponds to the mixture of oxides that make up the commercial anticorrosive [32].…”

“…Some bio-based monomers have been proposed for substituting not renewable diacid parts. Hadzich et al [62] developed a Sacha inchi oil-based alkyd resin. Results showed that the addition of penterythritol and Sacha inchi oil promoted an increase of anticorrosion behavior and outstanding adhesion properties in harsh conditions.…”
