“…MAPK is regulated by the phosphorylation system, which phosphorylates specific serine and threonine residues of the target protein substrate to activate the expression of corresponding downstream proteins, thereby regulating the release of a variety of inflammatory factors. In addition, phosphorylation of MAPK protein can lead to the activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway and the expression of iNOS [53]. Our results found that phytosterols could inhibit the phosphorylation of ERK, suggesting that their anti-inflammatory effects may be related to the ERK signaling pathway, which could reduce the LPS-induced COX-2, iNOS, and TNF-α expression, and finally lead to the reduction of NO.…”

“…Phytosterols from Hippocampus species ( Hippocampus kelloggi Jordan and Snyder, Hippocampus histrix Kaup, Hippocampus kuda Bleeker, and Hippocampus trimaculatus Leach) have been investigated in several studies [ 34 , 35 ]. However, phytosterols from H. abdominalis , has not been studied.…”

“…The solvent was evaporated in vacuum to obtain the extract. Suspended the extract at 1:1(m/v) of raw material and deionized water and then extracted successively using petroleum ether (PE), ethyl acetate (EtOAc) and n-butyl alcohol (n-BuOH) on the basis of systematic solvent extraction method 44 . The supernatant and sediment were separated through decompress filtration, the residue was re-extracted.…”
