“…Recent study in 62 volunteers demonstrated that a treatment of 1,200 mg/day of Sahasthara for 7 days is comparable to 75 mg/day of diclofenac for 7 days in relieving muscle pain [8]. Moreover, black pepper has been used as an ingredient in topical formulation in many studies, such as topical emulgel for antiaging [9], topical preparation for catheter insertion success [10], and film forming transdermal delivery formulation [11]. P.nigrum is shown to have good potential in both food and medicinal purposes.…”

“…All of the procedures were carried out in the same examination the direction of venous flow, isometric arm exercise, fist clenching, local heat application to the site, and changing patient position. [6][7][8][9] Among these techniques, fist clenching makes the veins more prominent and helps ease catheter placement. 9 In fist clenching, the power generated by the muscular contraction resulting from cyclic opening and closing of an individual's palm increases arterial blood flow, consequently providing venous return.…”

“…Therefore, techniques that improve the visibility and palpability of veins are indispensable for successful catheter insertion. Many methods are used to increase vein visibility, such as tourniquet application, holding the arm below the heart level, massaging in the direction of venous flow, isometric arm exercise, fist clenching, local heat application to the site, and changing patient position 6–9. Among these techniques, fist clenching makes the veins more prominent and helps ease catheter placement 9…”

“…Additionally, studies have suggested that inhaled black pepper oil may improve postural stability in older adults by reducing the velocities of posture adjustments [ 31 ] and the sensory and reflexive motor movement of swallowing via activation of the right insular cortex in patients with dysphagia [ 32 , 33 ]. Two studies reported the effect of topically applied black pepper essential oil for enhancing vein visibility in patients, thus aiding easy intravenous catheter insertion [ 34 , 35 ].…”
