Effective biotic elicitation of Ruta graveolens L. shoot cultures by lysates from Pectobacterium atrosepticum and Bacillus sp.

Abstract: Growth of Ruta graveolens shoots was induced when Bacillus sp. cell lysates were added to the culture medium. Elicitation of coumarin by this lysate was also very effective; the concentrations of isopimpinelin, xanthotoxin and bergapten increased to 610, 2120 and 1460 microg g(-1) dry wt, respectively. It also had a significant effect on the production of psoralen and rutamarin (680 and 380 microg g(-1) dry wt) and induced the biosynthesis of chalepin, which was not detected in the control sample, up to 47 mic… Show more

“…In turn, Ruta graveolens shoots elicited with lysate of Bacillus sp. cells have been characterized by increased growth and accumulation of coumarin [38]. In the presented study, a tissue culture of D. muscipula was elicited in LM with rotary shaking using lysate from C. sakazakii cells, with various concentrations and exposure time to elicitors.…”

“…al. [9][10][11] recently reported enhanced FC production in response to various biotic and abiotic elicitors in R. graveolens shoot cultures. However, they did not investigate the effect of elicitation on product release and biomass.…”

“…La presencia de hemorragia observada en los grupos 3, 4 y 5 podría estar asociada a la presencia de cumarinas y sus compuestos derivados en R. graveolens (Orlita et al, 2008;Ratheesh et al). Estos compuestos tienen como órganos blanco de toxicidad a hígado y pulmón en ratón y rata (Lake, 1999), también se han relacionado con afectación a la síntesis de los factores de coagulación en el hígado (Bye & King, 1970, Pineda-Ruiz, 2009).…”
