Effectiveness of giving organic fertilizer with different doses on the growth and yield of red ginger (Zingiber officinale var Rubrum)

Abstract: Red ginger has not been cultivated intensively, so that there was a production decrease in 2018 of 4.24% from 2017. The increase in red ginger cultivation can be done by fertilizing organic fertilizers. This study aimed to obtain an effective dose of organic fertilizer in increasing the growth and yield of red ginger. From March to October 2020, the research was conducted at the UNS experimental area in Wonorejo Village, Jatiyoso, with an altitude of 778 masl. The study was conducted using a randomized complet… Show more

“…During the storage process, the rhizome will absorb or release water until it reaches a moisture content that is balanced with environmental humidity. In addition, the remaining soil, roots, and stems still attached to the rhizomes after harvesting also affected shrinkage [16].…”

“…The freshiweight of the rhizome has a significantiimpact on the dried weight of the rhizome. The fresh weight of the rhizome will affect the weight of the soil that has undergone drying, where the higherithe fresh weight of the rhizome, the higher the shelf weight will also tend to be high, and vice versa, the lower the freshiweight of eating the shelf weight will also be lower [20]. The shelf weight of ginger rhizomes is an indication of the content of organic compounds in the rhizome which are the result of metabolism, but it can be possible that there is a large water content, causing the storage weight of the rhizomes produced not to differ markedly between treatments.…”
