Effects of a Preparation Containing Pantogam, Succinic Acid, and Chitosan on Activities of the Glutathione System and NADPH-Generating Enzymes in Rat Tissues under Conditions of Cerebral Ischemia/Reperfusion

Abstract: Treatment with the complex preparation containing pantogam, succinic acid, and chitosan normalized the concentration of reduced glutathione and activities of glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, and some NADPH-generating enzymes (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and NADPH-isocitrate dehydrogenase) in animals with experimental hypoxia/reperfusion of the brain. These results can be explained by suppression of free radical oxidation and normalization of the antioxidant system related to the neuroprotec… Show more

“…Известно, что соли цинка при хроническом действии на организм оказывают токсический эффект на все органы и ткани, в особенности на центральную нервную систему. Так, по данным литературы, увеличение концентрации соединений цинка может приводить к развитию нейродегенеративных заболеваний центральной нервной системы [1,2]. Добыча, обработка и производство цинка способствуют его интенсивному рассеянию в биоценозах.…”

“…Treatment with a complex preparation containing pantogs, succinic acid and chitosan normalizes the concentration of reduced glutathione and the activity of glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase in animals with experimental hypoxia/reperfusion of the brain. These results are explained by the suppression of free radical oxidation and the normalization of the antioxidant system associated with the neuroprotective, antihypoxic and antioxidant properties of these substances, their involvement in the regulation of cellular metabolism in pathological conditions accompanied by oxidative stress (Safonova et al, 2015). Derivatives of succinic acid showed promising antifungal and antibacterial activity against various test microorganisms and possess antioxidant activity (Raghavendra et al, 2017).…”

“…It is well established that the chronic exposure of mammalian organisms to zinc salts induces toxic effects in nearly all organs and tissues, and especially in the central nervous system [1,2]. According to the literature, the increase of the zinc and succinic acid concentration may lead to the development of neurodegenerative diseases of the central nervous system [3,4]. It has been shown that the increase of zinc concentration in the body might cause dysfunctions of the immune system and provoke a deficiency in the content of other chemical compounds such as iron and copper.…”
