“…A aplicação de EDTA tem-se mostrado altamente eficiente em aumentar a solubilidade de metais pesados (Blaylock et al, 1997;Lai & Chen, 2004; Quadro 2. Matéria seca da raiz e parte aérea em milho e mucuna preta submetidas à aplicação de ácidos orgânicos (10 mmol kg -1 ) em solo contaminado com Pb, Cu e Zn enquanto apenas 7 % do ácido oxálico foi degradado no mesmo período.…”

“…Vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides) accumulated 6.2 µmol/g Zn in the shoot (as 247 compared to 4.7 µmol/g in Szarvasi-1 energy grass) but in that case much higher Zn 248 concentrations were measured in the soil solution [37]. differently.…”

“…The effect of increased transpiration rate of the plants on metal uptake under stress conditions (increased EDTA concentration) may be an important process. Lai and Chen (2004) found that EDTA treatment significantly increased the total uptake of Pb in the shoots of rainbow pink and vetiver grass over the values obtained with the control treatment (P < 0.001), but it did not significantly increase the total uptake of Cd and Zn. Lesage et al (2005) found that heavy metal concentrations in harvested shoot of Helianthus annuus increased with EDTA concentration but the actual amount of phytoextracted heavy metals decreased at high EDTA concentrations, due to severe growth depression.…”

“…This finding is supported by many reports. Lai and Chen (2004) reported that the concentrations of Cd, Zn, and Pb in a soil solution of rainbow pink significantly increased following the addition of EDTA (P < 0.05). It was also reported that the addition of EDTA and EDDS increased soluble metals in soil significantly (Komárek et al 2007).…”
