“…Today, engineers and researchers intensively investigate operation and made improvements of such power plants (for CCPPs which are currently in operation), while a new CCPPs are built in many countries worldwide. When CCPPs are compared with other power plants, it can be noticed that the CCPPs are achieving significantly higher efficiencies (usually higher than 60%) [2], with lower specific emmisions [3], and quick start capability (gas turbine cycle) while requiering lower operation and maintenance cost [4]. Due to high complexity of CCPPs, in its investigation and analysis during operation, it is common to use various dynamic numerical simulations for predicting the changes in measured, as well as for calculating non-measured, operating parameters [5].…”

“…There are some problems like predicting a life expectancy for the hot section components of a gas turbine where metal temperature gradients should be estimated in transient operation modes. [10][11][12] The unsteady coupled gas-solid simulations to predict the required temperature gradients are very time consuming and so an alternative technique is used 13,14 whose details are described in the next section. In the present study, at prevalent procedure to predict the metal temperature that is based on quasi-steady simulations is explained and its weakness is shown, and the importance of performing the unsteady conjugate heat transfer simulation for accurate studies is emphasized by introducing a simple qualitative phenomenological model that is utilized to demonstrate the possibility of the transient behavior of this problem, which cannot be predicted using the prevalent technique.…”
