Effects of Row Spacing and Fertilizer Treatment on Seed Yield and Related Traits of ‘Sterling’ Orchardgrass1

Abstract: Synopsis Higher seed yields were obtained from rows spaced 24 inches apart than from 9‐ or 36‐inch rows. Nitrogen fertilization increased seed yields each year. There was a response to phosphorus in the second and third years in 9‐ and 24‐inch rows. Early April applications of fertilizer gave better yields than early September applications on 24‐inch rows.
