“…Firstly, MEA acts as complexing agent for zinc and cobalt when preparing the growth solution ([Zn(MEA) m ] 2+ , [Co(MEA) m ] 2+ /[Co(MEA)(OH) x ] 2−x ). Secondly, since higher MEA concentrations in the growth solution were found to increase the ZnO growth, MEA is believed to exhibit a growth‐directing function similar to the results of other groups . Additionally, MEA is crucial for the doping of the rods during the first growth stage (1GS).…”

“…Stabilizer ratios lower than 1:1 exhibited higher transmittance compared to sol-gels having higher MEA to Zn ratio. Although ratios having greater transmittance values are preferred, in such cases using lower amounts of stabilizer leads to insufficient interaction between the ZnO nanoparticle and MEA resulting in uncontrollable nuclei growth and impaired film conductivity 20 , hence the reason of using 1:1 stabilizer ratio. On the other hand, from the comparison of different solvents used, IPA and ethanol portray a greater transmittance percentage compared to methanol.…”

“…It was observed that the addition of more water makes the solution translucent and disturbs the equilibrium. For (–NH 2 ), the ratio of [MEA/Zn 2+ ] = 1 is extensively used in the literature; however, several researchers have reported that in case of [MEA/Zn 2+ ] = 2, a more enhanced texture orientation toward the c-axis direction of the zincite structure [15,53,65] is obtained, as well as a finer crystallite size with less porosity [66]. This approach is also confirmed by the investigations exclusively devoted to studying the effect of the amount of amino additives on the microstructural features of ZnO thin films [67,68,69].…”
