Efficacy and effectiveness of valsartan/amlodipine and valsartan/amlodipine/hydrochlorothiazide in hypertension: randomized controlled versus observational studies

Abstract: These findings demonstrate that the efficacy of Val/Aml and Val/Aml/HCTZ in RCTs was more pronounced compared with their effectiveness in RWE studies in different ethnic populations although the overall benefit was not different.

“…Similar results were obtained in the randomized, double-blind ValVET trial. It was established that in elderly patients with systolic arterial hypertension the combination of valsartan with hydrochlorothiazide (160 / 12.5 mg) more effectively reduces BP after 4 weeks of therapy than the use of each of the this components as monotherapy (Duprez, et al, 2011;Kafrawy et al, 2014;Sison, Vega, Dayi, Bader, & Brunel, 2018).…”

“… 51 The combination of hydrochlorothiazide-valsartan has been shown to be effective in the treatment of hypertension, and the advantage of this combination therapy is that it can reduce the dose, thereby reducing adverse reactions. 52 , 53 The combination of hydrochlorothiazide and eplerenone can produce a synergistic effect, resulting in more effective blood pressure reduction, and eplerenone is an aldosterone receptor antagonist that lowers systolic and diastolic blood pressure. 54 Combining hydrochlorothiazide with amlodipine has been demonstrated to be effective.…”

“…вивчали вплив амлодипіну й олмесартану на АТ та CAVI. АТ знижувався однаково, але CAVI значно знижувався лише в групі олмесартану порівняно з групою амлодипіну [12,23].…”
