Efficacy of the endometrial receptivity array for repeated implantation failure in Japan: A retrospective, two‐centers study

Abstract: AimThis study aimed to assess the efficacy of the endometrial receptivity array (ERA) as a diagnostic tool and the impact of personalized embryo transfer (pET) for the treatment of patients with recurrent implantation failure (RIF) in Japan.MethodsFifty patients with a history of RIF with frozen‐thawed blastocyst transfers were recruited from July, 2015 to April, 2016. Endometrial sampling for the ERA and histological dating and a pET according to the ERA were performed. The receptive (R) or non‐receptive (NR)… Show more

“…Implantation rate in the receptive group was not significantly different from the non-receptive group (32.8% vs. 31.6%). However, although the population in this study had a similar overall mean age, 38.42 ± 3.40 in the receptive group, and 40.08 ± 5.16 in the non-receptive group, there was only one case of oocyte donation [ 108 ]. This indicates that RIF origin in some patients might not actually be due to a pathological condition but rather require personalized evaluation to find ideal implantation time.…”

“…ERA can guide clinicians to the optimal time frame for performing embryo transfer in recurrent implantation failure patients, and has been demonstrated to outperform endometrial histologic examination [97,98]. Garcia-Velasco et al conducted a pilot study comparing ERA results between endometriosis patients and healthy women; their results indicated no significant differences in any of the 238 genes in women with endometriosis, irrespective of the disease stage [99].…”

“…However, the improvement of the reproductive outcomes for the infertile patients with recurrent implantation failures by ERA test is controversial [3][4]. Therefore, innovativeness of ERA is not clear.…”
