“…A primary role of PDMAEMA in the synthesis of MNPs is the coating and protection of an inorganic metal core from the water environment. 22,23 Depending on environment pH, the polymeric coating thickness and density might be varied significantly. 33 The structure of the PDMAEMA n coating around the AgNP was analyzed with the RDFs calculated from the center of mass of the inorganic AgNP core (RDF−COM).…”

“…As expected, the Au 3+ maximum absorption wavelength (λ max ) in HAuCl 4 was at 221 nm and MNPs showed no absorption in the 200–800 nm region. Appearance of the absorption at 539 nm refers to SPR of the prepared AuNPs in MNPs@Au with a spherical morphology and confirms their deposition onto MMNPs. It should be noted that the high absorption intensity in the case of MNPs@Au can be attributed to the high concentration of MNP@Au dispersion. The SPR band of AuNPs at 539 nm was not clearly observable at low concentration, and UV–vis analysis of the composite nanoparticles was done at higher concentration than MNPs alone in order to confirm the deposition of Au NPs on the MMNP surface.…”

“…The adsorption of AuCl 4 − , which rapidly occurred in the first 15 min, over the hydrogel film was monitored using a UV–vis spectrophotometer [Figure (c)]. Some polymers are known to have a reducing effect other than the stabilizing effect, and such polymers are reported to cause an uncontrolled metal reduction that leads to the irregular nanoparticles with wide particle‐size distribution . Therefore, to avoid uncontrolled reduction, films were kept in the metal precursor salt solution for 15 min and immediately passed to the reduction step.…”
