Muchos ayuntamientos del Estado de Hidalgo han experimentado ya alternancia, por lo menos en una ocasión. Aunque el PRI ha mantenido el poder en la mayoría de los ayuntamientos, salvo en la elección de 2005 en la que solo conservó el 45.23% de los mismos. Ello nos da pie a pensar que existe competitividad electoral a nivel municipal en Hidalgo, y que algo está cambiando, en cuanto a la estructura clientelar que regía los resultados electorales, en esta entidad, a nivel local. En este artículo nos proponemos estudiar la competencia electoral que realmente ocurre en los municipios de Hidalgo: dónde se presenta, cuál es su grado, qué la favorece y cuáles son sus resultados en cuanto al desempeño financiero municipal. Many municipalities of Hidalgo have already experienced alternating least once. Although the PRI has held power in most municipalities, except for the 2005 election in that only retained the 45.23% of them. This leads us to think that there electoral competitiveness at the municipal level in Hidalgo, and that something is changing in terms of patronage structure governing the election results in this Entity locally. In this article we will study electoral competition actually occurs in the municipalities of Hidalgo: Where is presented, what is your degree, what favors it and what are their results regarding the municipal financial performance.
