The occurrence of feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUD) in Indonesia has not been widely reported. However, the incidence of the disease has increased due to dietary cat patterns. The diet habitually consists of commercial dry food only, without wet food, such as meat. FLUD often affects certain breeds of cats. Surgical therapy is the first option to remove kidney stones; however, rural areas in Indonesia often lack animal surgical facilities. This condition requires alternative therapies to cure the disease. A one-year-old male Angora cat was brought to Rumah Satwa veterinary clinic in Tanah Datar, Indonesia, for examination, with a history of urination difficulties or dysuria, pain in the abdomen when being handled, and lack of desire to mate. A macroscopic examination of urine showed a cloudy and dense appearance. The ultrasound examination revealed a stone (struvite) and a thickening of the urinary bladder wall. The angora cat was diagnosed with obstructive FLUD caused by urolithiasis. A capsule containing 125 mg Keji Beling (Strobilanthes crispus, Bl) extract was administered to the cat once daily to aid the struvite stone dissolution. Keji Beling is a herbal plant easily found in Indonesia and used to treat human kidney stones. After 32 days of therapy, the clinical condition of the cat improved. The ultrasound examination did not find any stones left in the bladder. In conclusion, based on local wisdom, Keji Beling leaves can potentially be an alternative therapy for FLUD in Angora cats with certain conditions.

Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai uji kinerja sistem pemberian vitamin untuk industri peternakan ayam. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keinginan penulis untuk mengembangkan alat-alat pendukung di bidang peternakan ayam. Salah satu alat yang dapat dikembangkan adalah mengenai alat pemberian vitamin ayam secara otomatis. Prinsip kerja sistem ini, vitamin akan dicampurkan pada tempat minum ayam dengan perbandingan yang telah ditentukan. Pada tahap awal penelitian ini masih berfokus pada hasil kalibrasi pembacaan nilai volume. Kalibrasi sendiri dapat dikatakan sebagai kegiatan membandingkan alat uji dengan alat standar. Dalam hal ini alat uji yang digunakan adalah dua buah waterflow sensor yang diatur sehingga dapat menunjukkan ukuran volume yang diinginkan. Satu waterflow sensor digunakan untuk menentukan volume air, sedangkan waterflow sensor yang lainnya digunakan untuk menentukan volume vitamin. Kemudian alat standar yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah gelas ukur. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan nilai yang sangat baik yaitu dengan nilai akurasi dan presisi kedua sensor mencapai lebih dari 99%. Hasil pembacaan serta nilai ketidakpastian repeatability untuk sensor pertama dan kedua secara berurutan adalah sebesar (503.90 +- 0.55) mL dan (504.10 +- 0.62) mL.

The role of the family is needed in providing support to hypertensive patients to be diligently checked themselves to the place of health care for regular blood control. One of the problems faced by the community, among others, is the lack of support and care from family members and the community in routine health checks. To know and see if there is a relation of role and support of family with blood pressure in hypertension patient in Tanjung Isuy village, Jempang Subdistrict of Kutai Barat Regency. The research method used in this study is a correlation study method with the cross-sectional approach, with a total sample of 35 people. Bivariate tests using the Spearman rank correlation test. The value of p-value from family role variables with blood pressure that is p = 0,000 <0.05 which means concluded that there is a significant relation between family roles with the blood pressure of hypertension patients. Family role with blood pressure that is p = 0.003 <0.05 which concluded that there is a significant relation between family support with a blood pressure of hypertension patient. There is a significant correlation between family role and support with blood pressure in hypertensive patients in Tanjung Isuy village, Jempang sub-district, West Kutai regency.
