“…Many synchronisation control approaches have been proposed to achieve the motion synchronisation in different areas (see Sun and Mills (2002), Sun (2003), Zhou, Shen, and Tamura (2006), Liu, Shan, and Sun (2007), Sun, Shao, and Feng (2007) and references therein), especially in the engineering systems driven by electro-hydraulic servo systems, such as the lift system in Sun and Chiu (2002), Li, Chen, Xiao, and Xu (2003), Chen, Liao, and Cheng (2007) and Chen, Liu, Cheng, and Chiu (2008), the elevator system in Li and Mannan (2001), the pushing railway bridge machinery in Li, Li, and Yang (2006) and the pressing down position system for cold rolling mill in Zhao, Fang, Li, and Han (2007). However, existing synchronisation approaches in the HAGC systems of cold rolling mills still have challenges due to the inherent nonlinearities of the hydraulic servo system, the uncertainties of load variation and the delay existing in the measurement of thickness.…”
