“…This enhancement of electrocatalytic performance has been ascribed to the synergistic effect for Ir−Pt composite catalysts in OER mechanism. In case of IrO 2 @MWCNT‐450 °C and IrO 2 @MWCNT‐500 °C, the IrO 2 nanoparticles agglomerated gradually at higher calcination temperatures, which reduce the OER catalytic activity [35–37] . The decrease of the activity should be related to fewer electrochemical surface area of the catalysts at higher temperature.…”

“…When the Tafel slopes were 120, 40, 30 and 15 mV dec −1 , the rds would be the reaction (1) (corresponding to the first electron transfer step), reaction (2) (corresponding to the dissociation of the O−H bond in the S‐OH group step), reaction (3) (corresponding to the combination of S−OH) and reaction (4) (corresponding to the combination of S−O), respectively. The Tafel slope of IrO 2 ‐based catalysts are in the range of 60–120 mV dec −1 , thus step (1) can be divided into the following two steps: [35,39,40] trueS+H2OS-OHads*+H++e- trueS-OHads*S-OHads …”
