Electrochemical Properties of Hybrid Supercapacitors Formed Based on Nanoporous Carbon and Nickel Tungstate

Abstract: In this work, the morphology of carbon material (CM) has been researched by the nitrogen adsorption/ desorption method. Furthermore, it was determined that the specific surface area is about 1200-1300 m 2 /g. NiWO4 was synthesized by co-precipitation method, and its structure was investigated by XRD. Additionally, the electrochemical properties of CM and NiWO4 were studied by the methods of chronoamperometry and voltammetry, and the use of these materials as electrodes of hybrid supercapacitors (HSC) -anode an… Show more

“…A silver chloride (Ag-AgCl) electrode (2) was the reference electrode and the platinum electrode (3) was as the auxiliary one. The silver chloride electrode was placed in a 3.5 M aqueous KCl solution (6) and combined with the working chamber via an agar-agar salt bridge (5). A 30% aqueous solution of KOH was used as the electrolyte (4).…”

“…Porous carbon materials (PCMs), having a number of unique properties, are widely used for purification of drinking water from organic impurities [1,2], separation and storage of gases [3,4], manufacturing electrodes of electrochemical capacitors (ECs) [5][6][7][8] and lithium power sources [9,10]. Nowadays, PCMs are made from raw materials (RMs) of natural and artificial origin.…”

“…The study of sorption properties of materials with a highly developed surface is currently receiving the greatest attention of researchers due to the wide scope of their application [1][2][3]. The main advantage in this type of research is precisely those materials that, along with a highly developed surface, would have such characteristics as a wide range of applications, variability between the possibility of controlling their properties both during acquisition and adjusting certain parameters in subsequent modification.…”

“…However, the ideal materials/technologies-that are cheap and effective-have yet to be found. In addition, porous carbon materials can be used as catalysts/electrode components for energy storage in supercapacitors [6,7], batteries [8], etc. The main factors when choosing a sorbent for targeted separation are surface area, pore volume, porous structure, and physicochemical properties.…”
