Electrochemical Reduction of Lithium Metavanadate in Lithium Chloride‐Potassium Chloride Eutectic

Abstract: Two reduction steps were observed in the electrochemical reduction of LiVO3 in molten normalLiCl‐normalKCl eutectic. The first reduction step produces an insoluble product which undergoes a chemical reaction with LiVO3 to form insoluble LiV2O5 and Li3VO4 . The second reduction step produces insoluble LiVO2 and Li3VO4 . LiVO2 undergoes a number of chemical reactions with LiVO3 to produce a mixture of solid compounds, one of which is LiV2O4 .
