Two reduction steps were observed in the electrochemical reduction of
LiVO3
in molten
normalLiCl‐normalKCl
eutectic. The first reduction step produces an insoluble product which undergoes a chemical reaction with
LiVO3
to form insoluble
LiV2O5
and
Li3VO4
. The second reduction step produces insoluble
LiVO2
and
Li3VO4
.
LiVO2
undergoes a number of chemical reactions with
LiVO3
to produce a mixture of solid compounds, one of which is
LiV2O4
.
VO2
was found to react with
LiVO3
to produce
LiV2O5
. The addition of oxide ion to the eutectic containing insoluble
VO2
resulted in the disproportionation of
VO2
to produce either
Li3VO4
and
V2O3
or
Li3VO4
and
LiVO2
, depending on the oxide concentration.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
