Electromagnetic performance of three‐phase doubly fed doubly salient electromagnetic generator

Abstract: In this paper, a three-phase dual armature-winding doubly fed doubly salient electromagnetic generator (DAW-DFDSEG) is proposed. The reason for using different numbers of turns in the two sets of armature windings is presented. On the basis of the finite-element method (), two different DAW structures (DAW1 and DAW2) with different turn numbers of armature windings are analysed and compared. The DAW2 structure outputs more power than DAW1 under the same turn number of armature windings, due to the stronger flu… Show more

“…Compared with the robust DSEM machine, the associated rectifier is the vulnerable component. Thus, the single-phase full-bridge rectifier [17] and hybrid half-bridge rectifier with dual armature winding [18] are studied for fault tolerance of the DSBLDC generator. The hybrid excitation doubly salient machines are proposed to reduce the field copper loss and improve the power density [19][20][21].…”

“…The combination of AC and DC generators is being also made for wind power generation. 43 Nevertheless, 2 projects similar to the core shape of prototypes A and B are as follows: a system gear to make a DC motor run from vertical motion and store up energy in a supercapacitor 44 and a wheel spinning with several NdFeB magnets, 45 using rotational mechanical force to generate energy. However, generators based on cheaper fuels like naphtha generate 2 kW consuming 2.7 L/h.…”

“…Another project involving different numbers of turns in the 2 sets of armature windings and a doubly fed, 3-phase, doubly salient electromagnetic generator harvests over 119.44 V and 7 A. How well they function depends on the use they are set up to and the environment in which they work.…”

“…Compared to the DSPM, the DSEM is totally PM-free machine, which gains many advantages. The excitation flux can be restrained quickly in the case of a fault, which is the basic requirement in the safety-critical applications such as the main generator of the aircraft [4,5]. The field winding simplifies the flux-weakening method, which leads to a wide constant power speed range.…”
