ELECTRORHEOLOGICAL RESPONSE OF POLYANILINE-TIO2 COMPOSITE SUSPENSIONS

Abstract: As an organic/inorganic hybrid possessing advantages from the combination of their own unique properties, conducting polyaniline (PANI)-titanium dioxide ( TiO 2) hybrid particles were synthesized by an oxidation polymerization of aniline, and their ER characteristics were examined. Our aim was to study the ER behavior of highly potential ER-active particles using conducting polymer and TiO 2 nanoparticle with relatively high dielectric constant. In addition, we also investigated its ER behavior as a function o… Show more

“…It is in the range of 10 2 -10 5 Hz which is needed for a good ER fluid. 29 Moreover, a short relaxation time is known to be related to higher shear stress: 30 The ER characterizations were carried out via a conventional controlled shear rate test. Fig.…”

“…[105][106][107] General conducting polymer/inorganic composites containing TiO 2 or BaTiO 3 nanoparticles were also synthesized and applied because of their unique dielectric properties. [108][109][110] 3.3.2 Core-shell-structured ER particles. The conducting polymers used as ER materials have many different forms and can be inserted or intercalated into inorganic particles.…”

“…Among these systems, much attention was paid to TiO 2 or BaTio 3 nanoparticles due to their unique dielectric properties. [93][94][95][96] Somani et al 97 investigated the high piezoresistivity and its origin in conducting PANI/TiO 2 composites. The strong interaction existing at the interface of nano-TiO 2 and PANI as well as the enhanced photoconductivity of the composite were also described separately.…”
