“…In this study, the hormone was α-melanocyte-stimulating (Figure 9), and was immobilized onto medical device surfaces with C -tetra(octyl)calixresorcin[4]arene. The results obtained by the authors indicated that the α-melanocyte hormone retains its anti-inflammatory properties and suggested that this strategy could be useful in the manufacture of new materials [66].…”

“…In this context, the calixarenes have been shown to be useful as linking agents. For example, Keskinates et al [66] used a calixarene tetraester (5,11,17,23-tetra- tert -butyl-25,26,27,28-tetramethoxycarbonylmethoxy-calix[4]arene) to achieve a good interaction between nanofibers of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) or poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and a green fluorescent protein. The containment of calixarene on the fiber where the binding of protein was highest was 50%.…”

“…The first stage is around 300–450°C, which is a rapid-weight-loss stage, mainly due to the degradation of the side chain of PAN, which escapes in the form of small molecules such as HCN, NH 3 and H 2 . 25 , 29,30 The next stage is around 450–800°C, in which the thermal-weight-loss rate is slower than in the first stage, mainly due to the decomposition of the carbon–carbon backbone. The differential thermogravimetry (DTG) curve shows a sharp peak at 330°C and a low-intensity broad peak centered at 460°C, which exactly corresponds to the thermal decomposition path of the TGA curve.…”

“…The pure PAN nanofiber membrane shows four absorption vibration peaks, 1452, 1732, 2242 and 2939 cm À1 , which were attributed to the -CH-absorption peak caused by in-plane bending vibration, the ester C¼O stretching vibration, the cyano CN characteristic stretching vibration absorption peak and the absorption peak at the PAN main chain -CH2-stretching vibration peak, respectively. 25 In addition, when CeO 2 /Co 3 O 4 was loaded onto the fiber, the characteristic PAN peak did not change significantly, while the composite fiber exhibited tensile vibration at 667, 575 and 531 cm À1 . The strong absorption peaks at 667 and 575 cm À1 are the tensile vibrations of Co-O in Co 3 O 4 , 26 and the absorption peak at 531cm À1 indicates tensile vibrations of Ce-O, 27 indicating that the composite fiber was successfully formed, and the peak vibration intensity became stronger as the concentration increased.…”

“…Nifedipine is an effective calcium channel blocker that is commonly used in a variety of cardiovascular diseases for clinical management 13 . In a number of circumstances, furosemide is a loop diuretic used orally to change the amount and/or composition of body uids, including hypertension heart failure, renal failure, nephritic syndrome and cirrhosis [20].…”
