Electrostatic Levitation of Plant Seeds and Flower Buds

Abstract: We report the electrostatic levitation of various kinds of seeds and flower buds. Coral berry and pepper near a spherical shape show a stable levitation state. The prolate ellipsoid soybean and flower buds are always "standing" in the free space with satisfactory levitation stability. For the irregular mushroom and wheat grain, the levitation state is characterized as a "top-heavy" posture. These special stable equilibrium states are proved by the analysis of surface charge distribution. The obtained saturatio… Show more

“…27 This work shed light on the noncontact manipulation of liquid marbles coated with nonferromagnetic particles. The trapping and manipulation of small objects can also be achieved via other levitation techniques, such as electrostatic, 28 electromagnetic, 29 and diamagnetic levitation; 30,31 however, these approaches require either that the sample have appropriate electro/magnetic properties or that a powerful magnet be available. 32 In contrast, acoustic levitation is suitable for the processing of a broader range of materials independent of their electro/magnetic properties.…”

“…2). Due to the fact that there is no potential minimum in an electrostatic field, [9] the feedback control loop is required to keep the sample levitated.…”

“…Therefore, the government or department should seek for efficient ways to help the second mover. The minimal quantum structure was also introduced into the Stackelberg duopoly under different conditions, such as the cases with complete information, [19] discrete distributed incomplete information, [20] and continuous distribution incomplete information, [21,22] respectively. Many interesting results were obtained by the concept of subgame perfect equilibrium and backwards induction.…”
