Using a combination of pair-wise correlation statistics, cluster analysis algorithms, enrichment factors, and pollutant concentra tion sources, Neustadter et al (60) were able to identify many of the specific sources of environmentally important metals in Cleveland: earth's crust (titanium, vanadium, and tin), automotive exhaust (lead), metal lurgy (iron and chromium), and specific industries (antimony and mer cury). Friedlander (61) found that greater than 72% of the aerosol in Pasadena air originated from sea salt, soil, auto exhaust, fuel oil, fly ash, and cement dust.…”
