Em Energy Absorption in the Human Body Tissues Due to Uwb Antennas

Abstract: Abstract-This paper presents electromagnetic energy absorption in the homogeneous and layered human body models due to body-worn UWB antennas, at frequencies of 3, 6 and 8 GHz. Typical small planar UWB antennas are used in this study: printed UWB disc monopole and UWB slot antenna. Distances of 2, 5 and 10 mm (reactive near-field region) between antennas and human body were chosen, approximating realistic scenarios of operation in Wireless Body Area Networks. To approximate different parts of the human body, o… Show more

“…In [7,12,[16][17][18][19], the effect of different antennas or polarizations on the UWB links are investigated. References [20,21] contain examination of body shapes and postures on the UWB on-body communications and in [22] the energy absorption of the UWB signal by the human body is found out.…”

“…The UWB monopole antenna has a low number of design parameters, higher efficiency and easier fabrication than resistive antennas for tomography proposed in the literature [9]. Moreover, in [17], the UWB disc monopole has demonstrated good return loss and electromagnetic absorption in human body. Consequently, in this experiment a UWB disc monopole has been designed using the method of moments implemented in the Agilent Momentum.…”

“…Many papers have been published on models of antenna structures for implants in the UWB band, but these papers have focused on antenna matching not investigations of channel loss [4][5][6]. Likewise similar models have been created for lower frequency ISM bands [7].…”
