Emergency splenectomy for trauma in the setting of splenomegaly, axillary lymphadenopathy, and incidental B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia: A case report

Abstract: HighlightsExploratory laparotomy and splenectomy are the preferred treatment for Grade V splenic laceration with hemodynamic instability in blunt abdominal trauma.Splenic rupture may be associated with blunt abdominal trauma and occult malignancy.Treatment of a ruptured spleen in the setting of B-cell CLL is a splenectomy followed by post-splenectomy vaccines and systemic chemotherapy.
