Emissions and Performance Characteristics of an Si Engine With Biogas Fuel at Different Co2 Ratios

Abstract: Nowadays increasing emission regulations and environmental concerns have led to the use of alternative fuels in internal combustion engines. Biogas is an alternative fuel that can be produced with clean, green and natural resources. In this study, a single cylinder, four stroke SI engine was operated at stoichiometric conditions, 2800 rpm constant engine speed with biogas fuel at different ratios. As biogas fuel, methane (CH4) and CO2 were used during engine tests. Test results which were taken by using only g… Show more

“…For all tested biodiesel obtained CO2 emissions are higher as compared to regular diesel fuel, but lesser only for jatropha curcas, due to complete combustion and higher oxygen percentage within the combustion chamber, as compared to diesel fuel. The fuel-air mixture preparation is good in premixed combustion phase due to oxygen contents which results in better combustion and higher CO2 emission [34][35][36]. Particulate Matter Emission Figure 7 shows the specific particulate matter (PM) emission changes at different load for three tested generation biodiesel (B20) samples and diesel.…”

“…Many studies have proven the negative relationship between chronic noise exposure and human health [20,21]. These studies have reported that exposure to noise remarkably contributes to hearing loss, performance reduction and changes in physical and emotional reactions [22][23][24]. Most of the generators used in Iraq are old and do not have posttreatment equipment or sound silencers to purify their exhaust gas and emissions or reduce generator noise.…”
