Endonuclease Fingerprinting of Plasmids Mediating Gentamicin Resistance in an Outbreak of Hospital Infections

Abstract: Summary. Three plasmids which each dclermincd Ihc same extensive anlibiotic resistance phenotype, including resistance to gentamicin. and which had been recovered from organisms involved in an outhreiik oigentamicin-resistant infections in Melhourne hospitals in [1975][1976], were analysed by fingerprinting with the restriction endonucteases Eco Rl, Hind HI and Psl I. In each case the fingerprints for all three plasmids were identical, despite the tact that each plasmid originated in a different host species a… Show more

“…5B was performed. The binding of E-HPR was unaffected by prazosin at concentrations higher than the one required to completely occupy ␣ 1 -adrenergic receptors (29). Similar results were obtained with the ␣ 2 -adrenergic receptor ligands, yohimbine and clonidine, with propranolol, a ␤-adrenergic receptor ligand, and with the D 2 dopamine receptor antagonist quinpirole (Fig.…”
