Energy consumption of mobile air-conditioning systems in electrified vehicles under different ambient temperatures

Abstract: In 2019, passenger car CO2 emissions peaked at 3.2 billion metric tons globally. Despite efforts to curb vehicle CO2 emissions and the ambitious targets adopted for greenhouse gas mitigation in the European Union (EU), emissions from road vehicles increased steadily over the past decade. Electrified vehicles have gained significant market share in the last years and are an essential technical option to reduce CO2 emissions. Range anxiety and insufficient charging infrastructure limit electrified vehicles’ cust… Show more

“…The last of the selected papers for this special issue deals with this topic. 14 As the market for electrified and electric vehicles is bound to grow in the near future, the thermal and energy management issues are gaining protagonism and require serious research efforts. We expect that the next special issue of THIESEL 2024 will reflect this growing interest.…”

“…13 Finally, the last one is on the fuel consumption of mobile air-conditioning systems in electrified vehicles. 14 Pele´et al 8 investigated experimentally combustion and emissions characteristics of a spark-ignition engine resulting from the injection of pure ammonia and of different ethanol-ammonia blends, with different strategies to reach homogeneous or stratified conditions at various intake pressures. Tamadonfar et al 5 on the other hand performed some quasi-DNS simulations to study the flame dynamics and structure of stoichiometric planar ammonia /hydrogen/air flames under different turbulent conditions.…”

“…Energy consumption is a major contributor to carbon emissions. Similarly, energy use in the logistics industry contributes significantly to carbon emissions [65,66]. The logistics industry's energy consumption intensity (ENI) is one of the elements influencing the lowcarbon logistics capacity under the low-carbon constraint.…”
