Energy Efficiency Analysis of Different Materials for Cookware Commonly Used in Induction Cookers

Abstract: The efficient use of energy is a priority when a technology migration plan is being executed. Several factors must be taken into account in order to achieve this goal. In this paper the migration from liquefied petroleum gas based cookers to electric induction cookers is analyzed, emphasizing on the selection of the best material to produce the cookware suitable for induction cookers in terms of energy saving and performance. To accomplish this study, several tests have been performed in three kind of pots mad… Show more

“…The Ecuadorian government estimates an investment of US$6 billion in hydropower plants, US$1.2 billion in improved transmission infrastructure, US$3.4 billion in household distribution, and US$1.1 billion in the ECP and the National Efficient Electric Heater Program. This represents 11% of national GDP (Villacís et al 2015). To pay for these contracts, between the years 2009 and 2016, the Ecuadorian government has undertaken four contracts with China.…”

“…The example solutions are by reducing the ratio of cookware diameter to flame diameter or decreasing cookware's distance to its heat source (Hannani et al, 2006). Other research also reveals that a thin enameled cast iron can have better efficiency than aluminum cookware (Villacís et al, 2015).…”

“…The heating mechanism in IH is eddy currents. Therefore, the low heating resistance [15], [16] of nonferromagnetic materials results in insufficient heat generation. Furthermore, IH operates with low efficiency if the resistances of the induction coil and nonferromagnetic pan become close due to improper design.…”
