Energy Optimization of the ‘Shore to Ship’ System—A Universal Power System for Ships at Berth in a Port

Abstract: One of the most effective methods of limiting air pollution emissions by ships at a berth in a port is the power connection of ships to the on-shore system. “Shore to Ship” (STS)—A universal system for the connection of the ship’s electrical power network with the on-shore network—ensures the adoption of the voltage and frequency of the on-shore network for the exploitation of various types of ships in the port. The realization of such a system is possible due to the use of semiconductor technologies d… Show more

“…German-Galkin and Tarnapowicz believe that under the background of overall low energy efficiency in China, the monitoring and management system provided by enterprises to provide functions cannot meet the needs of ship shore information management. Therefore, the construction of the monitoring and management system should improve energy efficiency to achieve energy conservation and emission reduction, so as to achieve a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions per unit GDP of 40% in 2020 compared with 2005 [1]. Yue and Wang proposed that IMO put forward mandatory ship energy efficiency rules in order to promote energy conservation and emission reduction in the shipping industry, mainly including ship energy efficiency design index for new shipbuilding [2].…”

“…It enables the power to fl ow in both directions. A substitute scheme for the analysis of SHMS, is shown in Figure 2, where the following values are marked: Analytical and model studies of SHMS energy characteristics are performed based on the analysis of electromagnetic processes in quasi-stationary modes [15]. The electromagnetic processes in the system are studied using an equivalent circuit diagram (Figure 2), taking into account the theoretical ones developed [16][17][18][19][20].…”
