The exploration and extraction of onshore gas resources play a pivotal role in meeting global energy demands. However, traditional practices in onshore gas exploration often come at a significant environmental cost, particularly in terms of carbon emissions. In response to growing concerns about climate change and environmental degradation, there is an urgent need for sustainable strategies that incorporate carbon capture technologies into onshore gas exploration processes. This paper aims to explore various sustainable strategies that can be implemented in onshore gas exploration, focusing on the integration of carbon capture to ensure environmental compliance. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature and case studies, this paper identifies key challenges and opportunities in implementing carbon capture technologies in onshore gas exploration. Furthermore, it examines the economic, technical, and regulatory aspects of incorporating carbon capture into onshore gas exploration operations. The paper also discusses potential synergies between carbon capture and other sustainable practices, such as methane reduction and ecosystem restoration. Ultimately, this paper provides insights into how onshore gas exploration can transition towards a more sustainable and environmentally responsible industry, while still meeting energy demands.
