Enhanced Binding Efficiency of Microcantilever Biosensor for the Detection of Yersinia

Abstract: A novel microcantilever sensor was batch fabricated for Yersinia detection. The microcantilever surface modification method was optimized by introducing a secondary antibody to increase the number of binding sites. A novel microfluidic platform was designed and fabricated successfully. A 30 μL solution could fully react with the microcantilever surface. Those routines enhanced the binding efficiency between the target and receptor on the microcantilever. With this novel designed microfluidic platform, the spec… Show more

“…In recent years, improvements to static MCs have involved the integration of microfluidics with MC arrays to improve the functionality of the device [ 38 , 39 ]. One advantage of this approach is that it may be used with re-usable MC surfaces, creating a re-usable device that can be flushed to regenerate the surface after use [ 40 , 41 , 42 ].…”

“…Another benefit to the combination of MCs and microfluidics is the capacity to use an array of multiple cantilevers in the same fluid. Either to measure the concentrations of multiple difference analytes or to improve the reliability of measurement with a single analyte [ 35 , 38 , 43 , 44 ].…”

“…Finally, Liu et al investigated the efficiency of a microcantilever biosensor for the detection of Yersinia pestis using a microfluidic platform. In their study, the surface of the microcantilevers was functionalized for the subsequent attachment of two types of Yersinia -specific antibodies [ 106 ].…”
