Enhancement of surface insulation properties of alumina/epoxy composites through ZrO2 film sprayed by plasma atomization

Abstract: Alumina/epoxy composites are widely used in the manufacture of basin insulators, but their surfaces tend to accumulate charges under the high-voltage direct current (HVDC), which induce the decline of surface insulating property. In this article, the modification method of depositing ZrO 2 film sprayed by plasma atomization was proposed to improve the surface insulation performance of the material. Argon was used as the plasma discharge gas, and ZrO (NO 3) 2 .xH 2 O was used as the zirconium source. The morpho… Show more

“…In this research study, α is the flashover voltage when F(y) is 63.2%. β represents the shape parameter, which is inversely proportional to the fluctuation of flashover voltage [23]. The median rank formula correction method was utilised to correct the failure level, and the correction formula can be found in Equations ( 2):…”

“…Research by [34,35,36] and refer to depositing thin films on epoxy surfaces. Studies [37][38][39][40] refer to the doping of fillers in polymers or the modification of fillers. We find that our study has some advantages over uniform treatment, and the overall modification effect is in the middle and upper reaches of surface flashover improvement.…”
