Tulunadu, located along India's beautiful western coast, is a location of extraordinary ecological richness. Its lush woods, breathtaking vistas, rich fauna, and active coastal ecosystems all work together to create a nature lover's and tourist's dream. However, the enormous increase in tourists over the years has begun to put strain on this vulnerable ecosystem. Unregulated development, an increase in visitor numbers, and unsustainable activities endanger the natural wonders that draw people to Tulunadu. This study digs into sustainable tourism techniques that are adapted to Tulunadu's unique ecological situation. The major goal is to discover ways in which local communities, government bodies, and tourists may work together successfully to ensure the long-term protection and conservation of Tulunadu's ecological treasures while also enjoying the region's beauty and cultural diversity. Practicing eco-friendly travel, limiting trash, supporting local conservation programs, and protecting wildlife and natural habitats can all help to preserve the region's ecological integrity. The findings of this study will not only add to the larger discussion about sustainable tourism but will also serve as a roadmap for maintaining paradise in Tulunadu, ensuring that its ecological assets are preserved for future generations to adore and enjoy.

Penelitian ini untuk mendata profil daya tarik wisata di Pulau Wangi-Wangi dengan pendekatan aspek atraksi, aksesibilitas, amenitas, dan ancillary serta menganalisis optimalisasi implementasi prinsip-prinsip ekowisata berbasis masyarakat dalam rangka pengembangan destinasi berdasarkan pada program dan kegiatan RIPPARDA Kabupaten Wakatobi, yaitu: (1) Prinsip keberlanjutan ekonomi, sosial, dan lingkungan 3 kriteria (2) Prinsip pengembangan masyarakat lokal dan kemitraan 4 kriteria (3) Prinsip Ekonomi Berbasis Masyarakat 4 kriteria (4) Prinsip Edukasi 4 kriteria (5) Prinsip pengelolaan lokasi wisata 7 kriteria. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dari hasil observasi, wawancara, riset pustaka, dan telaah dokumen. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa Pulau Wangi-Wangi memilki destinasi ekowisata yang cukup lengkap. Ada 28 program dan 36 kegiatan pokok pembangunan pariwisata terkait kegiatan ekowisata berbasis masyarakat. Masih terdapat kesenjangan dalam implementasi EBM, sehingga upaya optimalisasi dengan melibatkan unsur pentahelix, menekankan pada pemahaman dan pengetahuan ekowisata serta keterlibatan aktif masyarakat sehingga mereka mendapat manfaat dari pengembangan ekowisata yang mengarah pada pariwisata berkelanjuta.

A vast majority of scholarship share a similar view that collective participation of different stakeholders serves as a prerequisite for ecotourism sustainable development. Local community participation is considered to be an important pillar of ecotourism development as local communities are capable of influencing success or failure of ecotourism development projects. Socio-economic and socio-cultural well-being of local communities are crucial ingredients for maintaining rapport amongst stakeholders and sustaining ecotourism development. Despite being promulgated as a central pillar of ecotourism development, literature reveals that local communities have not been actively participating in planning and decision-making processes regarding ecotourism development. Adoption of Western-centric oriented participation frameworks by numerous state authorities coupled with lacking necessary skills have been identified as the main factors that hinder active participation of local communities in ecotourism development initiatives. It has therefore, been suggested that ecotourism destinations need to adopt and implement participatory approaches that suit their specific contexts and promote bottom-up ecotourism development procedures. Based on its potential for influencing review and amendment of existing tourism-related policies, a local community participation improvement model has been developed. The model is aimed at facilitating inclusive and active participation of all stakeholders in ecotourism development processes.
