Ensemble Climate Projection for Hydro-Meteorological Drought over a river basin in Central Highland, Vietnam

Abstract: This study focuses on the Hydro-Meteorological Drought assessments by Ensemble Climate Projections from a regional climate model (Weather Research and Forecasting, WRF) that downscaled 3 Global Climate Models under a baseline period and under a future scenario A2 for 2071-2100. The Meteorological Drought is assessed using the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) while the Hydrological Drought is analyzed by using both the semi-distributed hydrology model SWAT and Standardized Runoff Index (SRI). The catchme… Show more

“…This can be explained using the land‐use types in 2003 for the calibration and validation periods. Generally, the results obtained from calibration and validation of streamflow in the Srepok River Basin are similar to the previous studies conducted in the Central Highlands of Vietnam (Vu et al , ; Huyen et al , ).…”

“…Many studies on climate change impacts conducted in Vietnam have focused on water availability (Phan et al , ; Khoi and Suetsugi, ; Raghavan et al , ; Le and Sharif, ; Huyen et al , ). Another study conducted by Vu et al () considered future projection of hydro‐meteorological droughts for Dakbla River Basin in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. However, there are still limited studies concerning agricultural drought in Vietnam.…”

“…SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) [18] is a semidistributed hydrological model developed for the measurement of the inflow, sediment, and water quality under the climate and land-use changes [19]. SWAT can be used to continually measure the daily inflow and define a longer period of time in the future.…”
