Abstract:Ulcerative colitis is a severe chronic and invalidating autoimmune disease of the gastrointestinal tract. Conventional medical treatment is based on intestinal local and systemic anti-inflammatory drugs, local and systemic steroids, and systemic immunosuppressant agents with multiple side effects.
